I vividly remember a workshop presenter commenting about the physiological problem of blood settling into students' legs and back ends and depriving their brain of much needed oxygen as they sat for 10, 15, 30, 45, even 90 minutes (in some block classes) where the teachers expected those very same brains to be heavily engaged and making critical and energy demading connections. I have seen some teachers masterfully use practies to prevent this and I have also observed classrooms that students literally did not move out of their seats for nearly the entire class. Please share with me and others one or two ways you facilitate movement, especially if during that movement students are also actively engaged in their learning.
